Practices all frozen out

Many local athletes had a break from practice this afternoon as the icy weather canceled afterschool activites.

Should any schools call a snow day on Friday - their games are also postponed. We might have a light schedule on Friday.

Cohoes' Meg Keeler (5) takes it towards the hoop in the 2008 Section II Class B championship game against Hoosic Valley.

We have a story on Keeler in Friday's edition of The Record. Two of Keeler's older sisters captained the basketball team at Cohoes and her brother was the 2006-07 Colonial Council MVP.

But now it's Meg's turn, and she's off to a great start, averaging over 12 points per game and hitting the boards hard.

"She knew this would be her year and I can see her really taking the lead," said Cohoes head coach Dan Hytko, who has coached all three of the Keeler sisters. "She had been waiting in the wings but now it’s her turn to come to the front. She had an extra two years on the varsity because (her sisters) began playing on the varsity level as sophomores."

The Tigers (2-1, 3-2) have a big game against Lansingburgh (1-1, 1-3) scheduled for Friday, weather permitting.
The Lady Knights are off to a rough start so far, but they're looking to bounce back behind star guard Ariana Youngs.

The powers that be came in and changed the layout around on the site, as you can see. I'm still adjusting to the new features, but please feel free to sound off with any changes or any type of content you want to read more often.
