First Day of Baseball Sectionals

Not too many upsets on the first day of sectional play. Watervliet scored 10 runs in the first inning on way to a 19-8 win over nine-seed Hoosock Falls. Justin Legault, Caleb Gleason and Tom Ebenhoch each hit home runs for the Cannoneers.
The Suburban Council fared well in the AA first round as all five Suburban teams beat their Big 10 and Foothills counterparts and .
Six-seed Shaker beat three-seed CBA 8-3 thanks to a five run fifth inning. Tom McDonald threw a complete game to pick up the win.
Columbia used five home runs to top Queensbury 16-4. Tyler Rose (grand slam), Ian Gaule, Matt Montross, Bobby Peluso and Chad Bohley all went yard for the Blue Devils.
Josh Gagliastri, Shaun Kawola and Mike Hipwell hit home runs for Mechanicville who pulled out a 9-6 win over Galway.
