Hoosic Valley Girls Lose to Briarcliff 49-43
The Hoosic Valley girls fell one game short of capturing their first state title since 1991. The Indians couldn't recover from a huge 20 point third quarter performance from the Bears of section I. The Bears held Hoosic Valley to just seven third quarter points on two field goals.
The Bears switched to a box and one defense at the start of the third with the goal of keeping Hoosic Valley leading scorer Kayla Ryan in check. Ryan finished with 18 points but just seven after the defensive adjustment was made.
The Indians lack of depth in the post was exposed as 6-foot-one Samantha Anderson picked up her fourth foul early in the third and was forced to sit. She would return in the fourth but fouled out with 6:39 to go. She finished with 10 points.
It was still a season to remember in Schaghticoke. The Indians won the Wasaren and the section II class B title. It was their third straight section II title and their first as a B. Not bad for a school like Hoosic Valley that qualifies for the B level by just four students and may be the smallest class B team in the state.

Thanks for the complimentary post but whoever chose the headline for the Sunday paper needs to have an editor looking at his work a little more closely. Of all the words and photos you could have chosen, you chose those. I hope your readership is up down in the Briarcliff area because it will probably drop in the HV area. I know I'll never buy it again. You're right nobody is perfect and your publication has proven that time and again. Those 10 young ladies may not be perfect but they are pretty darn close. Take a look at the Post Star for some ideas on how to run a newspaper.
