Bethlehem Premier 20u soccer wins national title

The Bethlehem Soccer Club’s U20 Premier Team captured the U20 National Cup this past weekend in Manalapan, N.J.

Bethlehem defeated another Eastern New York team, the LaGrange Red Devils, in the final, 2-0, behind goals by Zak Duguay (Guilderland HS/Canisius College) and Max Kornstein(Bethlehem HS/New Paltz). Goalie Lee Fenner (Voorheesville HS/Hartwick College) needed to make just one save in the game. LaGrange had also played in a double overtime shootout win over the PFC Rhinos (whom Bethlehem had defeated the day before in pool play, 3-1), where their goalie was red-carded and several other players injured.

The Bethlehem Soccer Club’s U20 Premier team competes in the New York Premier League, which is a division of the prestigious EDSL, on of the oldest amateur soccer leagues in the United States. Bethlehem in coached by Jeremy Bogan and Scott Szelis and managed by John Knight. The over two-foot-tall and very heavy U20 National Cup will be formerly presented to the Bethlehem Soccer Club by the team at either their home game this Wednesday or Sunday at 6:30 PM.
