Gibbons Wins, Section II All Wrapped Up
Bishop Gibbons held on last night for the class A crown, handing Albany Academy its first loss in-section at the Civic Center. After a Jamel Fields three-point-play tied the game at seven in the first quarter, the Knights ran off seven in a row to take a 14-7 lead and never looked back.
Here is the class A all-tournament team.
Brian Hamor, MVP - BG
Zach O'Brien - BG
Jamel Fields - AA
Tyler Foster - AA
Cam Couball - Mohonasen
Dave Fischer - BH-BL
Rensselaer gave Mechanicville a run in the CC/C playoff, but just didn't have enough to stop the Red Raiders' Josh Rougia and Pat Marra.
These are section II's representatives in the state regionals beginning Friday.
Class AA - Bishop Maginn
Class A - Bishop Gibbons
Class B - Hoosic Valley
Class C - Mechanicville
Class D- Northville
Hoosic Valley will have its hands full with what appears to be a tough match up for them at SUNY-Potsdam. Ogdensburg has a 6'8" center named Tom Kelso - Hoosic Valley's players are all around 6'1". However, they play great defense and were outstanding from behing the 3-point arc in games against Fonda and Broadalbin.
The Maginn-Henninger clash on Saturday should be exciting, especially with the Griffins' home crowd in attendance. Maginn is No. 2 and Henninger No. 9 in the latest NY Sportswriters poll. The Griffs just knocked off No. 10, CBA.

Any opinions out there about all-star consideration? Which players deserve credit for a great season?
