Belleville perfect for five innings, Troy wins; local roundup

ALBANY -- Liz Belleville threw a five-inning perfect game for the Flying Horses in an abbreviated Big 10 Conference victory over Bishop Maginn (0-7, 0-7).
Anansa Benbow added a triple, a double and three RBI while Gabby Daniels chipped in with a single, a double and one RBI for Troy High (7-1, 8-5).
Catholic Central 5, Albany 0: Maddie Coneys struck out 12 and tossed a two-hitter for the Crusaders (5-1, 10-3) in the Big 10 victory.
Amanda LaPlante hit a two-run home run and both Hannah Kutny and Amanda Case finished with two hits.
Rensselaer 9, Berlin 8: Kathleen Kopaskie caught a line drive and doubled off a runner at third to end a CHVL marathon softball game on Thursday.
Rensselaer High school plated two runs in the top of the 12th inning and hung on in the bottom, thanks to Kopaskie’s catch to post a 9-8 victory.
After the two teams traded runs for the first six innings, no one could break the tie until Stephanie Vetter and Marissa Mendetta scored for the Rams on a throwing error.
The Mountaineers (5-4, 5-6) had 12 hits on the day and scored one run back in the bottom half of the 12th, but just couldn’t get the big hit.
Erin Berschwinger did finish with three hits for Berlin.
Loudonville Christian 22, Doane Stuart 5: Alex Rollis struck out 12 batters in four innings of work for Loudonville Christian, adding three runs scored at the plate in the CHVL victory for the Eagles (9-1, 9-2).
Justine Makinson went 4-for-5 with two triples, a double and a single while Jillian Hogan added four hits, three RBI and three runs for Loudonville Christian.
Mandy Schott went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Thunder Chicks (0-9, 0-9).
Voorheesville 16, Holy Names 1: Amanda Gatt hit a home run, tripled and drove in three runs and she also struck out eight Holy Names batters to earn the win the pitcher’s circle for Voorheesville.
Liz Madden went 4-for-4, driving in two runs for the Blackbirds (4-4, 4-7). Kelsey Wegner added three hits and three RBI for Voorheesville.
Greenwich 8, Cambridge 3: Ashleigh Maines had two hits and Ali Stein hit a double in the victory for the Witches (4-5, 5-8).
Sarah Heinbach struck out 10 in the circle for Greenwich.
Shenendehowa 1, Shaker 0: Giuliana Figliomeni singled in Karen Sweeney in the first inning for the only run of the game in a Suburban Council victory for the Lady Plainsmen (11-0, 13-0), who have yet to allow an earned run in 2010.
Pitcher Danny Amyot struck out eight for her 12th win of the season.
Schenectady 7, Maple Hill 4: Jessica Squires tied the game with a single in the sixth inning and Aleh Van Buren followed with a bases-clearing base hit that gave the Patriots (4-2, 7-5) enough for the non-league victory.

Baseball
CBA 4, Bishop Maginn 2: Matt Sand hit a home run and Casey McPartlon added a triple for the Brothers (9-1, 12-1) in the Big 10 victory over the Golden Griffins (2-8, 2-10).
Brandon Watson paced Maginn with a triple.
Albany Academy 12, Watervliet 9: The Cadets (6-3, 8-3) struck for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat the Cannoneers (2-7, 2-8).
Nick Pichette and Kris Bucci each hit triples for Academy.
Thomas Szczepanski and Josh Veshia both hit triples for Watervliet.
Voorheesville 19, Ravena 4: Kevin Connolly earned the victory on the mound and hit a home run for the Blackbirds.
JD Springer finished with three hits and two RBI for Voorheesville.
Schalmont 16, Cohoes 4: Tyler Demers, Phil Mascitelli, Joe Amorosi and Joe Paskevich hit home runs for the Sabres (10-0, 12-2) in the Colonial Council victory over the Tigers (3-8, 4-11).
Cohoes’ Marcus Haywood doubled and singled and Josh LeMay added two singles and two RBI.
Mechanicville 9, Cobleskill 0: Josh Coreno hit an RBI double in the first inning and added a solo home run in the fourth to lead the Red Raiders (7-3, 9-4) to a Colonial Council victory over the Bulldogs (2-8, 2-11). Alex Grayson added three singles and two RBI.
Hoosick Falls 4, Schuylerville 3: Seth Foster drove in two runs and had two hits for the Panthers (7-2, 9-3).
Steve Backus doubled, tripled and drove in a run for the Black Horses.
Hoosic Valley 16, Stillwater 13: Dylan Molesky went 4-for-5 with six RBI and Josh Drescher added two doubles and two RBI for the Indians (3-5, 5-7) in a Wasaren League victory over the Warriors.
Logan King had two hits and drove in four runs for Stillwater.
Rensselaer 7, Berlin 4: Lou Bethoty struck out 10 and hit two doubles in the victory for the Rams.
Burnt Hills 14, Ballston Spa 0: Bret Dennis led off the game with a home run and the Spartans (7-5, 10-5) never looked back.

Boys Lacrosse
Lansingburgh 6, Cambridge 3: Charlie Casey and Josh Guilbeault scored two goals apiece for the Knights (3-1, 4-5) in a Wasaren League victory over the Indians (1-10).
CBA 21, Amsterdam 3: The Brothers outscored the Rams 11-0 in the first quarter en route to a Big 10 victory.

Boys Tennis
Maple Hill 6, Taconic Hills 1: The Wildcats won four of five singles matches and won both doubles contests in a Patroon Conference victory over the Titans.

Girls Track and Field
Ichabod Crane 79.5, Maple Hill 61.5: Maple Hill's Katie Roth won the shot put (32 feet, 3.5 inches) and the discus throws (99 feet, 10.5 inches), but the Riders captured the team title in a Patroon Conference track meet.
Other Wildcats winners included Somer Connolly (3,000 Meters, 12.05.7), Alyssa O'Connor (Long Jump, 14-3.5) and Shannon McCormick (Triple Jump, 32-1).
