HS football polls released, 10/8

The New York State Sportswriters Association released their latest high school football polls this afternoon.

Some key games to watch this weekend:
Class AA
La Salle (3-0, 4-1) heads to the Electric City to take on No. 11 Schenectady (3-0, 5-0).
Marquis Terrell ran for 365 yards and seven touchdowns against the Patriots a season ago, but the Pats are much improved this season. Winner of the game likely clinches the Liberty Division.

No. 17 Saratoga Springs (5-0, 5-0) plays No. 5 Monroe-Woodbury (5-0, of Section IX) in a great crossover game.
The Blue Streaks have proved they can beat up on Section II opponents, but what about one of the top teams in the state? Monroe-Woodbury defeated La Salle 26-7 on October 19th.

Class A
No. 19 Bishop Maginn (3-0, 5-0) travels to the Collar City to take on No. 17 Troy (3-0, 5-0) on Saturday afternoon
The Griffins have been winning games by the skin of their teeth so far this season, and beat Lansingburgh last week in their first real test of the season. The Flying Horses have a lot to play for on their home turf on homecoming afternoon and the winner of this one likely takes home the Southeast Division.
Next week, however, Lansingburgh (2-1, 3-2) hosts Troy in a very interesting Southeast Division game.

Class B
Cohoes (3-0, 5-0) moved up to No. 17 in the rankings with a triple OT victory over Ravena (2-1, 3-2), a traditional powerhouse in Class B - the Indians had appeared in the Class B Super Bowl eight times since 1996.
Schalmont (3-0, 4-1), which has only three winning seasons since the program restarted in 1986, also entered the top 20.
In 2005, the Sabres went 0-9 and in 2006, Cohoes was 0-9.
Doormats no more.

Class C
The top four teams in the stacked South Division play each other this weekend.
No. 13 Chatham (5-0, 5-0) heads to Brunswick to take on Tamarac (4-1, 4-1).
The Bengals can create a tie for first place in the South Division with a victory.
No. 18 Fonda-Fultonville (4-1, 4-1) hosts Watervliet (4-1, 4-1). The loser is nearly assured of locking down fourth place in the South Division, meaning a first-round meeting with No. 8 Schuylerville in the Class B Sectional playoffs.

Class D
The playoff seedings are a lock as divisional play has already wrapped up.
No. 12 Rensselaer (4-0, 5-0) plays Warrensburg (2-1, 3-2) in the first round, beginning on the weekend of the 24th.
North Division champion Fort Edward (3-0, 3-2) will host Canajoharie (2-2, 3-2) in a semifinal game that same weekend.
Class D teams still have three weeks of crossover game remaining.

Without further ado, the rankings:
