A great game today in the Spindle City...Lansingburgh held on to beat Cohoes 2-1 in nine innings.
Each team scored a run in the first and it looked like it might be a slugfest - it wound up being anything but.
Lansingburgh's (13-1, 16-2) Erin Glikes and Cohoes' (7-4, 7-10) Courtney Galuski dueled for seven straight innings - but both teams had their chances. 'Burgh left 10 on base and Cohoes stranded nine.
Freshman Sam Woitkoski was called upon to lay down a pinch-hit sac bunt in the ninth with Carissa Russell on first base. An errant throw let Russell come around to score and put Woitkosi on third.
Or so the Lady Knights thought.
The home plate umpire claimed Russell did not touch third and called her out, cancelling what was the go-ahead run. Woitkoski remained on third with one out and leadoff hitter Molly McDonough singled to drive in the game-winning run.

In other Colonial Council action, Mechanicville (12-2, 13-6) beat Holy Names to remain one game behind 'Burgh with two league games yet to play.
In Big 10 action, Catholic High's Nikki Hedrick continues to deal. She no-hit Gibbons on Tuesday and allowed only one to Albany in a 13-1 Crusaders victory on Wednesday. It's a great sign for CCHS (6-2, 10-6) heading into sectionals - if they keep playing like this, an upset or two may be in order.
Waterford beat Heatly in a CHVL rivalry game. Katie Cahrenger struck out 11 Hornets in four innings and combined with Katie McGreevy for a one-hit CHVL victory.
Cassie Jeanson hit three singles and drove in three runs for the Lady Fordians (9-2, 12-3).
In unfortunate news, you may have noticed that Tamarac pitcher Meg Fitzgerald hasn't appeared in the box scores lately. She's been sidelined with an arm injury. It's tough luck for the Bengals, but best of luck to Meg as she graduates this June.
