Latest State Softball Rankings; Thursday Roundup

The latest state softball rankings are copied below. Troy made the cut at No. 15 and Colonie dropped to 16 after losses to Bethlehem and Shenendehowa. Hoosic Valley holds steady at No. 2 in class B and Mechanicville is making up ground, now number four in class C. The northsiders in Lansingburgh get another tough test next week when they host Mechanicville on Monday the 12th and take the quick trip over the 112th St. Bridge to face Cohoes on Wednesday.

HOOSICK FALLS —
Jess Pipino scored the game’s only run on a wild pitch with two outs in the sixth inning to keep Hoosic Valley unbeaten in a 1-0 Wasaren League rivalry matchup with Hoosick Falls.
Pipino reached on a walk and then was sacrificed to second and third before coming home on the wild pitch.
Indians (10-0, 11-0) ace Jen Mineau struck out 17, recorded her 10th shutout in 11 games and also spun her fourth no-hitter of the season.
Eighth grader Rachel Quackenbush struck out eight and only allowed two hits in the loss for the Panthers.
The game’s only two hits came from Pipino and Carolyn Houston.

Schuylerville 2, Tamarac 0: Jessica Gerber struck out 11 in a complete game three-hit shutout for the Black Horses (7-2, 8-5) in the Wasaren League victory. Tiffany McCall stole two bases and scored a run for Schuylerville, while Morgan Kinney also stole a base and was 1-for-1.

Catholic Central 5, Amsterdam 0: Nikki Hedrick tossed two-hitter, striking out nine as the Crusaders won in the Big 10.
Hedrick, who only allowed a pair of infield singles, also singled twice and drove in a run for CCHS (4-2, 7-6).
Kirsten Buchan and Meaghan Battige each singled twice and drove in a run for CCHS against the Rams (3-3 league).

Mechanicville 12, Ravena 2: Anna Arceneaux tripled and hit two singles and catcher Nina Cervini singled three times and also knocked a double in the Colonial Council victory for the Red Raiders (10-2, 11-6). Arceneaux also earned the win on the mound.

Lansingburgh 22, Watervliet 0: The Knights put up 11 runs in the first inning to run away with this Colonial Council matchup.

Waterford 22, Albany Academy 6: Aimee Lefebvre (four RBI) and Emily Giroux (three RBI) each singled three times to pace the Fordians to a CHVL triumph.
Nikki Robitaille tripled, singled twice and drove in a run for Waterford (7-1, 10-2). Leonna Robinson doubled and knocked in three runs and Jamie VanBramer doubled.
Allison Pollack (two RBI) singled twice for the Bears (3-6, 3-6) and Erica Eglow (RBI) tripled.

Saratoga 8, Mohonasen 0: Alyson Onyon held the Warriors to one hit and struck out 13 en route to a Suburban Council victory for the Blue Streaks (6-4, 10-4).

Niskayuna 12, Cohoes 1: Lauren Giglio allowed only two hits and struck out ten as the Silver Warriors (5-2, 11-2) captured a non-league victory over Cohoes (7-3, 7-11).
