Local roundup, Thurs., Nov. 4

TROY — The Catholic Central girls’ volleyball team has been on a role at the right time.
The Big 10 champions continued that success on Thursday night, when they defeated Scotia 3-0 in a Section II Class A quarterfinal matchup.
The Crusaders (16-2) won by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-16, to advance to the semifinals, where they will take on No. 2 seed Queensbury (16-0) at Shenendehowa High School on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Hannah Kutny had 14 kills and 27 digs to lead the way for Catholic Central, which also got nine kills from Gena Russo.
The trio if Ashley Creighton, Maddie Coneys and Hailey Frament combined for 26 service points for the Crusaders.
South Glens Falls 3, Troy 1: The Bulldogs, the No. 4 seed, topped No. 5 Troy in a Class A quarterfinal by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-22.
South Glens Falls will play No. 1 Burnt Hills Tuesday in a semifinal at Shenendehowa at 5:30 p.m.
Queensbury 3, Mohonasen 0: No. 2 seeded Queensbury defeated the Mighty Warriors by scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-15.

Class AA
Bethlehem 3, Columbia 1: The No. 1 seeded Eagles topped the Blue Devils in a Section II Class AA quarterfinal by scores of 25-16, 25-12, 17-25 and 25-17.
Kat Rice paced Bethlehem with 17 kills and two blocks, while Jaci Oskam added seven kills, three blocks and one service ace.
Guilderland 3, Schenectady 1: No. 4 Guilderland posted a quarterfinal victory over No. 5 Schenectady by scores of 23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-15.
The Lady Dutch were led by Allison Van Doren with 23 assists, 22 service points, six kills and six aces.
For Schenectady, Denia Gaillard made 10 kills and nine blocks. Shaylia Thomas recorded 10 blocks.

Class B
Ravena 3, Catskill 0: Kristen Wallace scored 22 service points, including nine aces, in No. 1 Ravena’s Section II Class B quarterfinal victory by scores of 25-5, 25-2 and 25-5.
Katie Vishneowski added 24 assists and Michaela Bullis provided eight kills for the Indians (16-1).
Ichabod Crane 3, Cobleskill 0: The Riders, the No. 4 seed, posted a quarterfinal victory by scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-23 to advance to a semifinal date with No. 1 Ravena Tuesday at Broadalbin-Perth at 5 p.m.
Johnstown 3, Schalmont 0: The Lady Bills, the No. 3 seed, topped No. 6 Schalmont in a quarterfinal.
Holy Names 3, Bishop Gibbons 2: Holy Names, the No. 2 seed, scored a quarterfinal triumph over the Golden Knights.

Class CC
Tamarac 3, Spa Catholic 1: Nancy Vickerson tallied 15 digs, 11 kills and nine service points, while Sarah Malsch added 19 assists and 12 service points for the No. 2 seeded Bengals (13-4) in a quarterfinal victory over No. 7 Spa Catholic by scores of 20-25, 25-12, 25-15 and 25-15.
Lindsay Doyle chipped in with 13 service points and seven kills and Taylor Lewis added eight service points, six kills and six blocks.
For Spa Catholic (9-8), Sierra Matthews made 16 digs.
Loudonville Christian 3, Mechanicville 2: The Eagles were on their way to an easy sweep of their Class CC semifinal – winning, 25-13, 25-12, when the Red Raiders said, ‘not so fast.’
Mechanicville, sparked by Krishna Eccles’ 30 assists and Anna Arceneaux’s 16 kills, rallied back for 26-24 and 25-23 decisions but the Raiders’ tank seemed to empty.
Loudonville Christian won the deciding game, 25-6.
Hattie Burgher had 16 kills, 18 digs and 20 service points to lead the Eagles, while Samantha Perry added 15 kills, five blocks and Julia Brown claimed 52 assists.
Fonda-Fultonville 3, Chatham 0: Fonda advanced to a semifinal match with Loudonville Christian, as the Braves, the No. 4 seed, topped No. 5 Chatham in quarterfinal round action.

Class C
Maple Hill 3, Hoosic Valley 2: No. 4 Maple Hill rallied to win the final two games in a quarterfinal victory over No. 5 Hoosic Valley.
Katie Roth, the Patroon Conference’s MVP, smashed 25 kills and made 16 blocks for the Wildcats (18-1).
Maggie Miller added 27 service points and Caitlin Wemmette and Caitlin Shook contributed eight digs apiece.
For Hoosic Valley (9-9), Rayn Nigro made 20 kills and Alex Gurney added 13 kills.
Game scores were: 23-25, 25-10, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-15.
Lake George 3, Stillwater 0: Lake George, the No. 3 seed, advanced with a victory over No. 6 Stillwater.
Galway 3, Emma Willard 0: The Jesters, the No. 7 seed, were blanked by the Eagles in a quarterfinal round match.

Class D
Mayfield 3, Middleburgh 0: Christie Showers recorded 16 kills and eight service points for No. 1 Mayfield in a quarterfinal victory over Middleburgh by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-16.
Hartford 3, Waterford 0: The No. 4 seeded Tanagers topped the No. 5 Lady Fordians by scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-18.
Argyle 3, Germantown 1: The No. 3 seeded Scots won a quarterfinal match by scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-10 and 25-20.

Field Hockey
Class CC
Hoosick Falls 3, Corinth 0: The Panthers received tallies from Karley Morin and Amanda Lewsey and a late insurance goal from Sam Skott to cap a 3-0 triumph over Corinth in the Section II Class CC championship game at Schuylerville.
Frankie Pearson made one save in net for the Panthers.
Hoosick Falls (17-1) will play the Class C champion Greenwich in the Section II Class CC/C playoff Sunday at Noon at Schuylerville.
Class C
Greenwich 8, North Warren 0: The No. 1 seeded Witches cruised to a title game victory over North Warren.
