Local roundup, Mon., Oct. 25

SCHENECTADY -- The Emma Willard School and Shaker High will be well-represented in today’s Section II girls tennis individual championships.In singles, Shaker’s Cat Crummey, the No. 1 seed and the defending Section II champion, will face Emma Willard’s Claire Schmitz in today’s championship match at Sportime, which begins at 2 p.m.
In Monday’s semifinals, Crummey defeated Guilderland’s Gaby Peda, 6-0, 6-2. Schmitz topped Shenendehowa’s Jessica Macaluso, 6-4, 6-4.
Emma Willard’s Mitali Das and Molly Goodman, the No. 1 seeded doubles team, defeated Shaker’s Eleana Wolner and Molly O’Connor, the No. 8 seeded team, 6-0, 5-7, 6-0, to advance to today’s finals. There, they’ll face another Shaker entry, the No. 2 seeded duo of Catherine Jenkins and Shannon Mukerji, who defeated Shenendehowa’s Taru Greene and Kristen Brayden, 6-1, 6-2 in a semifinal match.
The top three singles players and doubles teams will advance to New York State championship play, which begins on Nov. 6 in Manlius.

Boys Soccer
Cohoes 2, Lansingburgh 0: Goalkeeper Ryan Laughlin only had to made two saves to record the shutout as the Tigers blanked their rivals in a Colonial Council match.
Todd Haynes and Chris Morse each tallied a goal in the second half for Cohoes (9-3-1, 10-3-1), which finishes in second place in the Colonial Council’s Division 2, and will await its seeding in the upcoming sectional tournament.
The Tigers, who recorded their sixth shutout of the season, are 6-1-1 in their past eight outings.
Jarrod Jarosz made nine saves for the Knights (3-6-4, 4-8-4).
Albany Academy 3, Ravena 1: Jordan Newton scored two goals and assist¬ed on another to propel the Cadets (7-6-0, 7-8-0) to a Colonial Council triumph.
Hugh Fisher made four saves for Academy and Tyler Thompson had five saves for the Indians (2-8-3, 2-10-3).
Shaker 1, Burnt Hills 1 (OT): The Blue Bison (6-5-5) forged a draw with the Spartans (6-8-2) in the Suburban Council.
Bethlehem 3, Guilderland 1: Zach Rockmore tallied two goals as the South Division champion Eagles (14-2-0) wrapped up their regular season with a Suburban Council win over the Dutchmen (6-7-3).
Colonie 2, Averill Park 0: Mike Metzger and Massimo Smiroldo scored goals for the Garnet Raiders in a Suburban Council victory over the Warriors.
Brendon Westfall made six saves for Averill Park.
Loudonville Christian 3, Heatly 0: Chris Henk scored and assisted on Leo Pusatere’s eventual game winner as the Eagles (7-5-0, 10-5-0) won in the CHVL against the Hornets (2-9-1, 2-9-1).
Jared Burns (five saves) and Michael Reger (six saves) combined on the shutout for Loudonville Christian.

Girls Soccer
Troy 2, Albany 1: Morgan Avery and Lissi Vink-Lainas scored first half goals for the Flying Horses as Troy High (3-3-2, 9-5-2) held on for a Big 10 Conference victory over the Rams.
Albany Academy 4, Cobleskill 2: Emily Downie, Emma Hardy, Talia Rockmore and Bridget Malicki scored goals for the Bears (10-6-0) in a Colonial Council victory over the Bulldogs (6-7-3).
Cohoes 9, Fonda-Fultonville 0: Sarah Kusywa scored four goals for the Tigers in their first victory of the season in a Colonial Council triumph over the Braves.
Berlin 2, Loudonville Christian 0: Goalkeeper Ashley Vincent made 12 saves as the Mountaineers blanked the Eagles in the CHVL.
Rachel Ferris and Adriana Rizzo each scored for Berlin. Cassidy Allen (11 saves) and Amanda Allen (seven saves) each played in goal for Loudonville Christian.
Doane Stuart 3, Rensselaer 1: Sarah Saffee scored three goals for the Thunder Chicks in a victory over crosstown rival Rensselaer in CHVL action Monday afternoon.
Bethlehem 3, Guilderland 0: Kristina Maksuti contributed a goal and an assist and goalie Katie Nickles made 11 saves to record the shutout victory for the Eagles. Jenna Cubillos made 12 stops for the Lady Dutch.
Burnt Hills 3, Shaker 2 (OT): Emily Capron, Nicole DeCresente and Skye Kaler scored goals for the Spartans (12-4-0) in a Suburban Council victory over the Blue Bison.
Averill Park 1, Colonie 1 (2 OT): Averill Park’s Morgan Lionarons and Colonie’s Cassidy Keane scored second half goals in a Suburban Council draw.

Girls Volleyball
Bethlehem 3, Guilderland 1: Lydia Loy-Santelli totaled 27 assists and three service aces as the Eagles won a Suburban Council match, 25-18, 15-25, 25-13 and 25-23.
Amanda Kernozek contributed nine digs, eight service points and five kills for the Lady Dutch.
Averill Park 3, Colonie 2: Chelsea Mullen scored 29 service points and dished out 29 assists for the Lady Warriors in their first victory of the season, a Suburban Council triumph over the Garnet Raiders.
Stephanie Reinhardt dished out 15 assists and smashed 14 kills for Colonie.
Maple Hill 3, Greenville 2: The Wildcats (15-0, 15-1) clinched the first Patroon Conference championship in school history with a victory over the Spartans by game scores of 25-22, 16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21.
Chatham 3, Taconic Hills 0: Alyssa Mantell registered eight aces and seven assists to pace the Panthers to victory in the Patroon Conference, 25-10, 25-15, 25-14.
Loudonville Christian 3, Tamarac 0: Hattie Burgher recorded 19 service points, 18 digs and 15 kills for the Eagles (9-0, 14-2) in a non-league victory over the Bengals (10-0, 12-4).
Roni Weeks paced Tamarac with six kills and six blocks.
