Three locals taken in MLB draft
Tommy Kahnle, seen here pitching for the South Troy Dodgers in the summer of 2008, was drafted by the New York Yankees with the final pick in the fifth round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft. (Photo by Mike McMahon - The Record).
Former Shaker High pitcher Tommy Kahnle was drafted by the New York Yankees in the fifth round of the MLB draft this afternoon. He was the No. 175 pick.
He pitched Lynn University to a Division II championship a season ago and has been clocked at over 100 miles per hour in the Cape Cod League.
Prior to Kahnle's selection, former Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake pitcher Dave Filak was drafted by the Atlanta Braves as the No. 134 pick in the fourth round.

Update: After I had left the office for the afternoon, former Christian Brothers Academy star Greg Holle was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 11th round.
