Lansingburgh's Tobias headed to state meet; Tuesday's diamond updates

In softball action today, Columbia defeated Liverpool 3-0, advancing to Saturday's Final Four in Waterloo.
Meg Hallenbeck delivered a two-run double in the second inning, scoring Jena Servidone and Meg Bailey, and it was Bailey who drove in the game winning run an inning later on a sacrifice fly to lift the Columbia High School softball team to a 3-2 victory over Section III champion Liverpool in a Class AA regional title game at Gillette Road Field.
Columbia (20-6) junior Jena Servidone pitched a four-hitter, struck out eight Liverpool batters and did not allow an earned run. Liverpool (21-5) scored both of its runs on a passed ball and throwing error in the second inning.
The Blue Devils advance to Saturday’s New York State semifinal game against Section V champion Fairport (24-2). The Class AA semifinal at Waterloo High School will begin at 9 a.m. The Class AA championship game, also at Waterloo High School, will be played at 1:30 p.m.
Columbia's baseball team is also bound for the Final Four in Binghamton. They'll be playing Clarence at NYSEG Stadium at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Maple Hill's game against Ticonderoga was rained out on Tuesday and will be made up Wednesday at SUNY-Plattsburgh.
We'll be covering Hoosick Falls' journey toward its first regional title since 1987 Wednesday afternoon in Queensbury at the Adirondack Sports Dome and there will be a story on Panthers freshman pitcher Rachel Quackenbush in Wednesday morning's edition of The Record.
