Columbia victorious on senior night, part two
The Columbia boys basketball team lost on senior night last Thursday, with many players assuming it would be the last home game they would get to play. The Section II seeding committee, however, awarded the Blue Devils a home game on Friday in a Class AA play-in game against Niskayuna and those eight seniors picked it up in their second chance. Steven King (pictured above; Niskayuna's Kevin Nunez (5) defends) connected on five three-point baskets and scored a game-high 23 points in a 54-47 victory for Columbia. With 59 three-pointers this season, King is three treys behind Travis Jones' 2006-07 output of 62, the Columbia single-season record. (All photos by J.S. Carras - The Record).

For the second consecutive season, the Blue Devils (11-10) will face Bishop Maginn in a first round game as the No. 8 Suburban Council seed. The Golden Griffins are defending NYS Class AA champions and defeated Columbia 107-46 in last year's first round game.
