Mickey Mantle Tournament Update

The North Country A's handed Sorensco its first loss of the Upper New York State Mickey Mantle Tournament on Sunday. North Country pitcher Anthony McGovern held the Devil Cats to two runs on three hits in the 6-2 victory. The A's are the only unbeaten team left in the tournament.

The Devil Cats are still very much alive though and will take on the South Colonie Raiders Monday at 2p.m. at Clifton Commons. Sorensco won the only match up between the two 12-11 in extra innings. That game was tied at 11 and headed into extras when it was suspended by fog. When it was resumed weeks later the Devil Cats came out on top.

The Raiders advanced by knocking out Lansingburgh 5-2 on Sunday. It was South Colonie's second game of the day, bouncing back from a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to North Country at Cook Park Sunday morning.

Be sure to check out Monday's edition of The Record for the complete Lansingburgh and Sorensco game stories.
