Ripken regional: Saratoga vs. Spring

Stan Hudy covered a few games at the Cal Ripken Mid Atlantic regional for us Friday afternoon, including a showdown between Saratoga and Spring Youth Baseball. Here is an excerpt:

TROY - The Saratoga American 8-year-old Cal Ripken Baseball team shook off a lackadaisical, but winning start to the Middle Atlantic Regional in Troy and came back for the nightcap looking like major leaguers.

Saratoga’s three-person pitching staff struck out 14 Spring Renegade players in the six inning contest for a 5-1 victory, its second of the day. The Americans dropped Metro New York champion Staten Island, 10-4, and are in the driver’s seat as pool play continues this weekend.
