If the season ended today: girls basketball - magic numbers

Here is a quick rundown of what Section II girls basketball teams need to do to clinch league titles, with standings accurate prior to Friday's games.

Big 10 Conference
(12 game regular season)
Catholic Central High School, 9-1
Albany High 8-1

These two teams split the season series and they've handled everyone else in the conference so far, so a shared title looks likely.
Remaining games:
Albany: Troy, Amsterdam, Schenectady
CCHS: Troy, Bishop Maginn

Suburban Council
(16 game regular season - home and home against division opponents, one game against opposite division)
North Division
Shenendehowa, 11-2
Shaker 9-4

Shen won both games in the series, and their magic number is two. Any combination of Shen wins or Shaker losses totaling two clinches the division for the Lady Plainsmen.

South Division
Averill Park, 13-0
South Colonie, 11-2

Averill Park has a magic number of two, putting the Warriors in the same boat as Shen. Any combination of AP wins and Colonie losses totaling two clinches the division for AP.

Colonial Council
(18 game regular season)
Holy Names, 14-0
Watervliet, 11-4
Albany Academy for Girls, 9-6
Cohoes, 9-6
Lansingburgh, 9-6
Mechanicville, 9-6
Voorheesville, 8-7

Holy Names can clinch the league title Friday night with a victory over Girls Academy or a Watervliet loss. The race for second place, however, remains very interesting.

Wasaren League
(14 game regular season)
Greenwich, 10-1
Hoosic Valley, 9-2
Schuylerville, 8-3
Stillwater, 7-4

Greenwich has the inside track on Hoosic Valley, but the Witches' magic number is three. If they win out, they clinch, but Hoosic Valley still has a chance if the Witches stumble, but it looks like Greenwich has the easier road down the stretch.

Remaining games:
Greenwich: Hoosick Falls, Tamarac, Stillwater
Hoosic Valley: Tamarac, Cambridge, Schuylerville

Patroon Conference
(18 game regular season)
Maple Hill, 15-0
Ichabod Crane, 12-3
Rensselaer, 10-5
Catskill, 9-6

Maple Hill can clinch with a victory at Chatham Saturday afternoon or an Ichabod Crane loss. The Wildcats have won 61 consecutive games in the Patroon Conference.

Central Hudson Valley League
(16 game regular season)
Germantown, 13-1
Waterford-Halfmoon, 11-2
Heatly, 10-3

The Clippers have a magic number of two, meaning they need either two wins, a win and a Waterford loss or two Waterford losses to clinch the CHVL title. Waterford and Heatly aren't out of it, but Germantown hasn't faltered very often this season.
