If the season ended today: boys basketball - magic numbers

Here is a quick rundown of what Section II girls basketball teams need to do to clinch league titles, with standings accurate prior to Friday's games.

Big 10 Conference
(16 game regular season)
Christian Brothers Academy, 13-0
Bishop Maginn, 9-3
Albany High, 8-4
Schenectady, 8-4

The Brothers' magic number is one, meaning they can clinch the Big 10 regular season title Friday night with a victory at Schenectady. A Maginn loss would also seal the deal for CBA.

Suburban Council
(16 game regular season)
North Division
Shenendehowa, 12-0
Saratoga Springs, 11-2

Shen's magic number is three, meaning they need any combination of wins or Saratoga losses totaling three to clinch the North Division title.

South Division
Averill Park, 9-4
South Colonie, 8-4

This will be a race to the finish. AP and Colonie meet head-to-head in the Suburban Council finale on Thursday, Jan 11.

Colonial Council
(14 game regular season)
Lansingburgh, 11-1
Watervliet, 10-2
Voorheesville, 9-2

The Knights have a magic number of two, meaning they can clinch the league title with a victory and losses by Watervliet and Voorheesville tonight. That's unlikely, so they'll have a shot to lock it up Tuesday at home against Schalmont.

Wasaren League
(14 game regular season)
Hoosick Falls,10-1
Schuylerville, 9-2
Granville, 8-4
Hoosic Valley, 7-4

The Panthers have a magic number of three, meaning any combination of wins and Schuylerville losses totaling will clinch the league title for Hoosick Falls for the second year in a row.

Upcoming games:
Hoosick Falls: Greenwich, Stillwater, Granville
Schuylerville: Stillwater, Granville, Hoosic Valley

Patroon Conference
(18 game regular season)
Ichabod Crane, 15-1
Maple Hill, 14-1
Rensselaer, 13-2

Ichabod Crane and Maple Hill split the season series, and no one else in the league has given them problems, so a shared title looks likely here.
Maple Hill, however, plays Rensselaer in the season finale next Friday, while Ichabod plays the Rams on Wednesday. The Rams, if they beat both teams, could create a three-way tie at the top.

Central Hudson Valley League
(14 game regular season)
Germantown, 10-2
New Lebanon, 9-2
Heatly, 8-3
Loudonville Christian, 7-4

This one will also be a race to the finish, and it's too close to call because all of the top teams will play each other down the stretch.

Remaining games:
Germantown: (All home games) Waterford, Heatly, New Lebanon
New Lebanon: Berlin, Loudonville Christian, Germantown
Heatly: Hawthorne Valley, Germantown, Loudonville Christian
