These are just some of the memorable images from a magical season for the Hoosick Falls Panthers football team.
Mike Brewster did a fantastic job at quarterback, able to pick opponents apart with his arm or take off and do the damage with his legs. Alex Hansen almost never left the field, starring at running back and defensive end, earning the nickname 'Beast Mode' from his teammates.
Jake Colliano, Hutton Rasmus and Garrett Foster anchored the offensive line and defensive front, which excelled in the Section II postseason.
Kevin McMahon, Tanner Williams and Logan O'Brien were among the threats on the outside, capable of catching passes from Brewster or intercepting passes on defense.
There were plenty of names and plenty of faces to remember, but the most memorable thing of all about the Hoosick Falls football team was just how darn kind and how hard-working everyone around program acts every single day.
Parents descend on the school cafeteria every Thursday night to share a meal with their team and I got the sense that there wasn't a team in Section II that meant as much to its community as did the Hoosick Falls football team this fall. The crowd that came out to attend the annual showdown with Cambridge was the best I've seen in a long time, especially ringing cozy Ken Baker Field with the game on the line.
Sure, they had their share of luck on the field, as does any team that advances deep into regional and state competition, but there's not doubt that this team worked just as hard as any other in the section. Still, the Panthers really deserved their success on the field in 2009 because of the way they carry themselves in the hallways and on the streets.
