Big-time Big 10 showdown Tuesday night

Kameron Ritter (24) drops in a bucket during a 2008-09 game against Bishop Maginn. Now a senior for the Brothers, Ritter is one of the elite scorers in the area. (Photo by J.S. Carras - The Record).

The Brothers travel to Albany Tuesday night to take on the Golden Griffins, and like usual, this isn't just another basketball game. Bishop Maginn has won 39 consecutive games in the Big 10 Conference, a streak that dates back to January 12, 2007, when CBA topped them, 62-61.

If you want a seat, plan on getting there early. Even at Maginn's relatively roomy gym (compared to CBA's) seats will be at a premium, unless you want to sit on the end in the dark.

In other action Tuesday night, Watervliet travels to Lansingburgh for an early-season Colonial Council showdown. The Knights, despite concerns coming in, have played very well in their first few games, but the Cannoneers have really lit up the scoreboard.

None of the league titles will be determined this week, but we could see a few of the front-runners emerge in rivalry games.
