Rensselaer gets rematch with Moriah
It was Rensselaer's second consecutive Super Bowl title and it seals the Rams (9-1) a rematch with Moriah in the New York State regional round next weekend in the North Country.
"That stretch, we really needed that in the second quarter," Mico De Los Santos said. "If we didn't come out with that it would have been a more difficult game."
De Los Santos was named Section II Class D's Most Valuable Player for his regular season exploits on offense, defense and special teams.
Tyler Pruiksma rushed for 113 yards for Greenwich (7-3).
"These guys have been here before," Rensselaer head coach Joel Preston said of his veteran players. "I just keep reminding them how it felt last year walking off the field after losing to Moriah in a game where we didn't play very well. We just want another shot at them and I keep telling them keep your eyes on the prize."
