Local roundup, Mon. Nov. 1

COLONIE -- Casey Hall contributed 20 kills and six blocks for the No. 5 Shaker Blue Bison in a 3-2 Section II Class A quarterfinal boys volleyball victory over the No. 4 South Colonie Garnet Raiders by game scores of 25-17, 20-25, 16-25, 25-15 and 25-17.Danny Hernandez added 26 assists and Ravi Shah chipped in with 29 digs for the Bison (12-7).
Colonie (11-8) was paced by Steve Sleasman (18 kills) and Nate Krouse (11 kills).
Burnt Hills 3, Niskayuna 0: Jordan Armstrong dished out 21 assists and made six kills for the No. 2-seeded Spartans, who won by scores of 25-5, 25-16 and 25-11 in a victory over No. 7 Niskayuna in a quarterfinal match.
Shenendehowa 3, Mohonasen 0: Nick Clark made 13 kills for the No. 3-seeded Plainsmen in a victory over No. 6 Mohonasen by scores of 26-24, 25-16 and 26-24.

Boys soccer
CASTELTON — The Hoosic Valley High School boys soccer team pushed Maple Hill to the brink Monday afternoon, but the No. 1 seeded Wildcats took care of business in overtime.
Jake Yager scored the game-winner 5:43 into the first overtime period on an assist from Paul Ancin as No. 1 Maple Hill defeated No. 8 Hoosic Valley 2-1 in a Section II Class B quarterfinal game at Maple Hill Middle School.
Alex Roulier scored Hoosic Valley’s goal.
Maple Hill advances to face No. 12 Chatham in the Class B semifinals Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Morse Field in Glens Falls.
Class AA
Shenendehowa 1, Bethlehem 1 (2 OT): Shenendehowa, the Suburban Council’s No. 7 seed, advanced in the Section II tournament by defeating No. 1 Bethlehem in penalty kicks, 3-0.
Goalkeeper John Mabee was flawless in the penalty kick period for the Plainsmen, who will face Ballston Spa in the semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m. at South Colonie.

Saratoga Springs 2, Shaker 1: The Suburban No. 2 seeded Blue Streaks advanced in a Section II class AA quarterfinal victory over the No. 6 Blue Bison.
Niskayuna 2, Colonie 1 (2 OT): Suburban Council No. 5 seed Niskayuna upset No. 3 Colonie in a Class AA quarterfinal. The Silver Warriors will face No. 2 Saratoga Springs in a semifinal Thursday at 5 p.m. at South Colonie High School.
Class C
Lake George 2, Voorheesville 1: The No. 2 seeded Warriors topped No. 7 Voorheesville, the defending Section II Class CC champions, in a Class C quarterfinal Monday afternoon.
