Troy High relay team breaks a pair of school records

ALBANY - Troy High’s indoor track and field teams scored four first place finishes and set a pair of school records at the Section II Division II championships in SEFCU Arena at the University at Albany.

The girls 800 meter relay team – Jeanette Williams, Lauren Cooney and twin sisters Alexis and Bianca Jordan – broke a 24-year old school record, finishing first in Saturday’s meet in a time of 1:53:00, shaving 0.4 seconds off the old mark.

The same group of girls shattered the 24-year-old school record in the 1,600 meter relay by five seconds, but finished third in Saturday’s field.

Bianca Jordan was a first place finisher in the 300 meter dash (0:42.8). Other solid performances came from Lativia Perkins in the 55 meter hurdles (8.9 seconds, third place) and Alexis Jordan in the 600 meter run (sixth place, 1:46:00).

In the boys division, Travon Jackson was a first place finisher in the 55 meter hurdles, running that race in 7.93 seconds. Jackson placed second in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, five inches.

Wayne Russell placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, three and one half inches.
