Hoosic Valley's Samantha Anderson floats a jump shot during Tuesday's 56-32 Wasaren League victory over Stillwater. The senior center finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals in the game. (J.S. Carras - The Record). Hoosic Valley was ranked No. 9 and
Stillwater No. 11 in last week's New York State Sportswriters Association Class C poll. A new poll will be released Wednesday afternoon. It was
Stillwater's first
Wasaren League defeat of the season and the
Hoosic Valley victory created a four-way tie atop the
Wasaren League standings with
Hoosic Valley,
Stillwater,
Tamarac and
Schuylerville all holding 3-1 league records.
The Hoosic Valley defense, led by Carlee Chapko (4) held the Stillwater starters to a mere five points in each of the first three quarters. The Indians are allowing a stingy 27.7 points per game over their six-game winning streak. (J.S. Carras - The Record)
Rebecca Moore (24) scored 12 points and made five rebounds in the victory but she also play a key role on the defensive end.
